A Technical theatre specialist and founder/CEO of Zmirage Multimedia Limited, Teju trained at the department of Theatre Arts, University of Ibadan where he emerged as one of the best in technical theatre.
Having practiced theatre extensively in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, he revolutionized technical theatre practice in Nigeria by setting up Zmirage Multimedia Limited in 1996 to fill the yawning gap created by the absence of world class infrastructure to aid practitioners in that field.
Now in its 23rd year as the pioneer and leading suppliers of technical equipment to the entertainment and corporate event industries.
Zmirage has grown and diversified its services far beyond the boundaries of a just theatrical technical hire company, reaching into every area where technical equipment is used as part of entertainment, with the rare capacity to handle several events simultaneously no matter the time or location.
He has been instrumental to standardization of technical infrastructure in some of the performance spaces home and abroad in designer and consultant capacities, amongst which are Ben TV Studio UK, African Voice Studios UK, Cultural Centre Abeokuta, Civic Centre Lagos, OGTV Studio, AIT Studio Abuja, and National Theatre, Lagos to mention but a few.
Among his numerous credits are: Technical Director, CORA Awards Abuja and SARO the Musical, President Miss Malaika Nigeria and President CIOF Nigeria a cultural body devoted to the development of folklore festivals from 2007 –2009; artistic producer/Director African Drums Festival 2017 – 2019.
Projects undertaken include KORA Music Awards in South Africa, Mariam Makeba the musical both in America and South Africa, WSICE at the African Centre and CANIRIV at Notting Hill Carnival, both in London.
With many awards and honors to his credit, Teju Kareem is the chairman of Abuja Rocks. He is the Consultant Technical Producer of Nigeria Election Debate Group (NEDG) and was Consultant for the Sierra Leone Election Debate Group (SEDG).
He was also Consultant Technical Producer for the Nigerian Olympic stage plays held at Stratford Theatre London in July 2012. Teju Kareem is a fellow of The National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP), Member of the Institute of Directors (IOD), a fellow of Theatre Arts Practitioners (FTA) and director of Communication and African Renaissance.
Teju is the Executive Producer of the annual WS International Cultural Exchange Program now in its 11th year and Consultant/Producer for all eighteen editions of the ongoing Federal Government of Nigeria Town Hall meetings.
James Waudby started his career at the start of the eighties in London’s west end. His career includes a number of years at the BBC as well as numerous other TV companies.
He has toured the world with both musicians and theatre and currently has an active career on four continents. His company Astral Design is currently providing full production for the arena tour of Monster and has a number of installations in central London.
James has many awards and accolades for his work in events and productions. In 2005 James was runner up in the knights of illumination awards for his lighting design for Shangri-la at Glastonbury festival, a three year long live art project. The winner of the category was the Olympic opening ceremony.
James is also a director at atmosphera academy of arts in Ronda Spain and he also runs Astral Dare to Dream project which support and encourages newcomers to the creative arts an initiative that has already had participants in Nigeria.
James is “always seeking exciting new design projects & collaborations with forward thinking & creative clients wishing to lead in their field, those else that wish to create stunning visual experience for others in unusual environments who are daring in the extreme.”

He has specialized in installing for unusual events and environments for many years. His worldwide experiences have exposed him to several seemingly insurmountable tasks making him fully aware and well equipped to deal with challenges. James positively thrives on achieving the impossible against all possible odds and is one of the few production professionals with an active track record that show he can prevail in this environment and succeed in delivery.
In recent years James has installed and consulted several performance spaces and venues in the UK. James’ career in stage production engineering and installation include Works at National theatre U.K., Coliseum, the BBC and the New Emirates Stadium; he has also consulted on two theatre rebuilds.
These experiences have put him in a unique position to understand the specific challenges of working within the multi structured subcontracting framework of large-scale building refurbishment with respect to theatre and performance spaces.
